Senior Financial Planner

Meet Helena

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our friend and colleague, Helena, died at the end of October 2024 from secondary cancer.

Sadly, having fought cancer once before and even for a lady as strong as Helena, this time it was extremely aggressive, too much so even for the treatment given to her.

There simply aren’t enough words to describe how much Helena meant to us all – as colleagues (past and present) and friends but, most importantly, to her partner Andy and children, Jack, and Toby.

Helena worked in financial services since the mid-1990’s, with over 20 years spent as an independent financial adviser.

Helena joined Five Point Consulting in 2019 and had also worked with David previously at Towry Law and, when she set up her own business with other colleagues, at Highbrook Associates, both in the early 2000’s.

Helena was very much loved by her family and friends and held in extremely high regard by her fellow professionals and her clients, many of whom also considered her a friend.

She will be very greatly missed by all.

We certainly feel it in the office, which is now somewhat quieter than it used to be and missing her unique sense of humour.

An interview with Helena

On an ideal weekend, you can find me:

"Away by the coast, maybe Whitby or Bamburgh with my boys, enjoying the fresh sea air, then watching the sunset with a bag of fish and chips."

My favourite holiday destination is:

"Thailand (please)."

My favourite song to play in the car is:

"Anything that makes me sing along, even though I never know the words and usually make them up!"

The first album I bought was:

"Thriller."

If I could be any fictional character, I would be:

"Villanelle from Killing Eve. I love her kick-ass psycho approach. This is just in fiction isn’t it??"

If I could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, I would win a medal in:

"Multi-tasking and household management."

When the dessert menu arrives, I’m looking for:

"Panna Cotta."

The three qualities that draw me to new people are:

"A big smile, a good listener and a sense of humour."

My pet peeve is:

"Lack of manners – the temptation to shout “You’re welcome” at someone who has walked through the door I’ve held open for them without thanking me is becoming greater the older I get."

The best gift I ever received is:

"Anything my children pick for me."

The three people at my dream dinner party would be:

"Louis Theroux, Paul Newman and my mum."

Three small things that make my day better are:

"A bear hug off my son, a large cup of tea first thing and curling up on the sofa in the evening watching a TV drama."
